Design / Project Engineer (Full Time Permanent)

Heat Transfer Systems Inc., a St. Louis-based company specializing in the custom design and fabrication of shell & tube heat exchangers for the petrochemical industry, has an immediate opening for a Design / Project Engineer who will lead all technical aspects of assigned projects from design through delivery. The position will report directly to senior management.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Review project requirements and customer specifications to ensure compliance.
• Perform detailed mechanical & design calculation per ASME Code & other industry standards.
• Work with draftsmen to produce fabrication drawings.
• Serve as the primary contact with the customer through the engineering approval phase.
• Partner with engineering, purchasing, quality assurance, and production and remain actively involved through shipment. 

Requirements:

• Degree in mechanical (preferred) or chemical engineering.
• Fabrication experience and knowledge of ASME Code is preferred, but not required.  Strong problem solving skills will be important in our custom fabrication environment. 
• The candidate must be highly motivated, results- oriented, and able to perform in a team environment with a minimum of supervision.
• The candidate should be thorough and detail-oriented with strong follow-through skills. 
• The candidate must be able to successfully manage competing priorities and multiple projects. 
• The candidate must be organized and able to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines and respond quickly to requests.
• The candidate should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and be comfortable interacting with customers in person, over the phone, and via email.
